CONSTITUTION OF
PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF BALDWIN COUNTY, INC.
Gulf Shores, Alabama

Preamble

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We, baptized members of the
Body of Christ, responding in faith to the call of the Holy Spirit through the Gospel, cognizant of
our spiritual needs, and mindful of our Christian duties to preach the Word, administer the
sacraments, and be disciples in Gods mission, do hereby adopt this Constitution and solemnly
pledge ourselves to be governed by its provisions.

Article 1 - NAME AND INCORPORATION
1.01. The name of this Congregation shall be Peace Lutheran Church of Baldwin County, Inc.

1.02. For the purpose of this Constitution and the accompanying Bylaws, the Peace Lutheran
Church of Baldwin County, Inc. congregation is hereinafter designated as “this Church”

1.03. This Church shall be incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama.

Article 2 - CONFESSION OF FAITH

2.01. This Church confesses the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - three distinct persons in one
Godhead.

2.02. This Church confesses Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for
the salvation of all who believe him.

a. Jesus Christ - true God, Son of the Father from eternity, and true man, born of the Virgin Mary - is 
the Word of God incarnate through whom everything was made and through whose life,

death, and resurrection alone God delivers from sin, death, and the devil and inaugurates a new
creation. (Rom. 4:25, John 1:29, Isa. 53:6)

b. The oral proclamation of God's message to us as both law and gospel is the Word of God,
revealing judgment and mercy in the person and work of Jesus Christ through whom God by his
grace alone was pleased to reconcile the world and all things to himself. (Rom. 3:23-25)

c. The canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God. Inspired by the
Holy Spirit speaking through their authors, they record God's revelation centering in Jesus
Christ. Through them the Holy Spirit speaks to us creating and sustaining Christian faith and
fellowship.

Therefore:

2.03. This Church accepts the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the sole authoritative
source and norm of our proclamation, faith, and life.

2.04. This Church accepts the Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds as true declarations of the scriptural
faith of this congregation.

2.05. This Church accepts the Unaltered Augsburg Confession and the Small Catechism as true witnesses to
the Word of God, normative for our teaching and practice. This Church acknowledges as one with it

in faith and doctrine all churches that likewise accept the teachings of the Unaltered Augsburg
Confession and the Small Catechism.

2.06. This Church accepts the other confessional writings in the Book of Concord as Farther valid expositions
of the Holy Scriptures.
